NOTES ON HEAT TRAVEL

heat can be transferred from place to place by three methods; CONDUCTION-in solids,CONVECTION-of liquids(liquids and gases), and RADIATION- through anything that will allow radiation to pass. The method used to transfer heat is usually the one that is the most efficient. If there is a temperature difference in a system, heat will always move from higher to lower temperatures.
EXAMPLE: an example of heat conduction would be hot coffee in a glass mug sitting next to another cup of hot coffee, but in a styrafoam cup. The glass cup gets heated and is hot when you try and pick it up as well as if it were in a metal mug. The styrafoam cup has no effect at all, it is because of the type of cup it is.
